Rétt fyrir miðnætti í nótt hafði dregið verulega út kvikustrókavirkni á gossprungunni við Sundhnúksgígaröðina og hafði virknin einangrast við sex gosop norðarlega á sprungunni samkvæmt upplýsingum frá Veðurstofu Íslands.
Virknin í gosinu var á svipuðu róli í alla nótt og er hún enn mest í nokkrum gosopum. Vegna skyggnis á svæðinu hefur verið erfitt að fullyrða um hversu mörg þau eru en það skýrist vonandi betur eftir því sem líður á daginn.
Hraunflæði er mest norðarlega á sprungunni og við gosop við Sýlingarfell sem opnaðist um tíuleytið í gærkvöldi. Unnt verður að meta betur virkni og hraunflæði þegar léttir til með morgninum.

Shortly before midnight, the activity of lava fountains on the fissure at Sundhnúksgígaröðin had significantly decreased, with activity isolated to six eruptive vents in the northern part of the fissure, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office. The eruption activity remained at a similar level throughout the night, with the most significant activity at several eruptive vents. Due to limited visibility in the area, it has been challenging to determine the exact number of active vents, but this should become clearer as the day progresses.
The lava flow is most intense at the northern end of the fissure and at an eruptive vent near Sýlingarfell, which opened around 10 PM last night. The activity and lava flow will be better assessed once visibility improves in the morning.
