Tilkynning frá almannavarnadeild ríkislögreglustjóra og lögreglustjóranum á Austurlandi:
- Áfram hættustig á Seyðisfirði og rýmingar að hluta í gildi vegna skriðuhættu.
- Frekari afléttun á rýmingum.
Sérfræðingar Veðurstofu Íslands hafa nú farið yfir gögn sem safnað var í dag og síðustu daga. Mælingar hafa verið endurteknar á upptakasvæðum skriðufalla síðustu daga og hefur hreyfing minnkað mikið. Auk þess sýna mælingar á grunnvatni að vatnsþrýstingur í jarðlögum hefur minnkað. Lítil úrkoma hefur verið síðustu daga og kalt í veðri sem eykur stöðugleika.
(Athugið) Spáð hlýindum frá hádegi á aðfangadag og fram á jóladag. Vegna þess er ekki talið óhætt að opna aftur svæði þar sem skriður hafa fallið síðustu daga eða næst hlíðinni. Þar er því áfram rýming í gildi (rauð svæði á meðfylgjandi korti).
Aðstæður í Botnabrún voru skoðaðar sérstaklega í dag og er það mat Veðurstofunnar að óverulegar líkur eru á skriðu sem skapað geti hættu neðan Múlavegar (gult svæði á korti sem birt var í dag). Fólki er því heimilt að snúa aftur heim í þau hús.
Þegar þessi tilkynning er send út, þá er í gildi rýming á því svæði sem er litað rautt á meðfylgjandi korti og er sú ákvörðun í gildi til 27. desember. Eftir það verða aðstæður metnar á ný og tekin ákvörðun um það hvort rýming skuli standa lengur á einhverjum reitum.
Ef fólk er í vafa um það hvort hús eru innan eða utan rýmingsvæðis, þá eru allar útlínur húsa teiknaðar inná kortið og því hægt að sjá hvorum megin þau lenda. Starfsfólk í þjónustumiðstöð almannavarna getur einnig aðstoðað fólk til þess að sjá hvort hús eru innan eða utan rýmingasvæða.

Announcement from the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management and the Police Commissioner of East Iceland:
- Continued alert phase in Seyðisfjörður and partial evacuation in effect due to risk of mudslide.
- Further lifting of evacuation.
Specialists at the Icelandic Met Office have now gone over the data collected today and in the last few days. Measuring has been repeated in the originating area of the mudslides in the last few days and movement has decreased significantly. In addition, measuring of groundwater shows that water pressure in sedimentary strata has decreased. There has been little precipitation in the last few days and the weather has been cold, which increases stability.
(Note) The forecast is for warm weather from noon on Christmas Eve Day and into Christmas Day. Because of this, it is not considered safe to reopen the area where mudslides have happened in the last few days, or next to the mountain side. Evacuation is therefore still in effect there (red areas on the enclosed map).
Conditions in Botnabrún were examined specifically today and the Icelandic Met Office’s estimation is that the probability of a mudslide creating danger below Múlavegur (yellow in the map published today) is negligible. People are therefore permitted to return home to those houses.
At the time of this announcement, an evacuation of the red coloured area on the enclosed map is in effect and this decision will be in effect until December 27. After that, conditions will be reassessed and a decision made whether evacuation should continue to apply in some areas.
If people are not certain whether houses are inside or outside of the evacuation area, all outlines of the houses are drawn onto a map and it is therefore possible to see on which side they land. Workers at the Civil Protection and Emergency Management Service Centre can also assist people in seeing whether houses are inside or outside of evacuation areas.

• Utrzymujący się poziom zagrożenia w Seyðisfjörður i obowiązująca częściowo ewakuacja ze względu na niebezpieczeństwo osunięcia się ziemi.
• Rozporządzenia względem ewakuacji.
Eksperci z Islandzkiego Urzędu Meteorologicznego poddali ocenie informacje zebrane z dnia dzisiejszego jak i ostatnich kilku dni. Ponownie zrobiono pomiary w obszarach osuwisk, gdzie aktywność wyraźnie się zmniejszyła. Pomiary wód podziemnych pokazują, że ciśnienie wody w warstwach znacznie spadło. W ostatnich dniach odnotowano niewielkie opady. Niska temperatura, zwiększa stabilność sytuacji.
(Uwaga) Przewidywany jest ciepły front od godzin południowych od dnia Wigilii do Bożego Narodzenia. Ogólnie nie jest jeszcze bezpiecznie otwierać tereny, na których w ostatnich dniach wystąpiły osuwiska czy też tereny w pobliżu zbocza. W związku z tym nadal obowiązuje ewakuacja (czerwony obszar na załączonej mapie).
Warunki w Botnabrún zostały poddane szczególnej ocenie dzisiaj. Według oceny Urzędu Meteorologicznego istnieje niewielkie prawdopodobieństwo osunięcia się ziemi, które mogłoby stworzyć zagrożenie dla Múlavegur (żółty obszar na opublikowanej dzisiaj mapie). Dlatego osdoby mogą wracać do tam usytuowanych domów.
Po wysłaniu tego zawiadomienia ewakuacja obszaru zaznaczonego na czerwono na załączonej mapie jest ważna i ta decyzja obowiązuje aż do 27 grudnia. Sytuacja następnie zostanie ponownie oceniona i będzie podjęta decyzja, czy ewakuacja na którymkolwiek z tych terenów powinna trwać dłużej.
W przypadku wątpliwości, czy domy znajdują się w obszarze ewakuacji, czy poza nim, wszystkie schematy domów można znaleźć na mapie, dzięki czemu można zobaczyć, po której stronie te domy się znajdują.
