Ríkislögreglustjóri, í samráði við Lögreglustjórann á Suðurnesjum, hefur ákveðið að fara af neyðarstigi niður á hættustig Almannavarna vegna eldgossins milli Hagafells og Stóra Skógfells.
Farið var á neyðarstig þegar eldgosið hófst þann 16. mars sl. Þrátt fyrir að eldgosið haldi áfram þá hefur staðan nú haldist óbreytt um nokkurt skeið. Ekki hefur mælst landris á svæðinu síðustu daga. Ýmsar áskoranir eins og gróðureldar í kringum hraunbreiðuna, gasmengun hafa verið viðvarandi síðustu daga en mengunin hefur borist í byggð á Suðurnesjum. Áfram verður fylgst með gróðureldum við eldgosið og brugðist við þegar þarf, einnig hefur verið farið í fyrirbyggjandi aðgerðir. The National Commissioner of the Icelandic Police, in consultation with the Chief of Police in the Reykjanes Peninsula, has decided to downgrade the civil protection phase to an alert phase due to the volcanic eruption between Hagafell and Stóra Skógfell.
The emergency phase was initiated when the eruption began on March 16th. Despite the ongoing eruption, the situation has remained unchanged for some time. No significant land movements have been detected in the area in recent days. Various challenges such as wildfires around the lava flow and gas pollution have been persistent recently, but the pollution has been carried to settlements in the Reykjanes Peninsula. Monitoring wildfires during the eruption will continue, and actions will be taken as needed, including preventive measures.
